While at Clinton High School. Tina was a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Technology Student Association, Swim Team, Science Olympiad Team, Science Club, Student Government Association, Key Club and Career and Technical Education Honor Society. Her cumulative GPA was nearly 4.0 out of a possible 5.0; SAT score near 1450 and ACT above 20.
When asked, why are you pursuing higher education?”, Tina responded, “ After you graduate from high school, you are supposed to go to college and then get a job.” It’s the only way you will be successful in life and that is drilled into your head the moment you start your first day of school. Unless you are lucky and you become famous for a certain talent, or you are a genius and create an amazing invention at a young age, it’s the only way you can increase your odds at getting a well-paying job. After realizing that you could actually like your job and make enough to be financially stable, I became serious about making a career choice since I had begun receiving letters from different universities. I stumbled across one letter that stood out and sparked enough interest to demand being read. I was not familiar with the university or the place, but the course offerings were exciting. I read the letter thoroughly, researched the university, read the school’s website, stalked every social media account I found and even looked up some of the graduates. I was fascinated by everything Neumont University had to oer. I knew no other university could measure up to this one; it was built just for me. I had an opportunity to visit the campus and the deal was sealed. I did not want to return; I wanted to stay. I feel that to get the most out of college, you must first find the one that is best suited for you and will motivate you to do your very best. Going to college is important, but going to the right one is essential. Neumont University is that place for me. It is expensive, but well worth the cost. The experiences, opportunities, and knowledge I will receive is priceless when compared to any other university.”
Her guidance counselor commented about Tina’s character and work ethics. She stated, “Tina has excelled academically which is evidenced by her grade point average. This is a testament to how hard she worked while remaining active in the community. She is a leader in the classroom who leads by example. Tina is determined to achieve her goals no matter the cost. This is evidenced by the decision she made to study a very prominent field at a university well known for the caliber of people they produce, far away from her cozy home and those she loves. She will do well in her future endeavors, as she is focused and ready to become a successful contributor to society.”
