This year’s SHSAA, Inc. Reunion was a weekend full of fun, reuniting with longtime friends, presentations of awards and special recognitions and moments that will not be soon forgotten. Friday evening’s entertainment was quite a surprise: Belly Dancers. Some went on an informative tour of Yale University. The tour guide assigned to the group was great and what he did not share, our own Lorenzo Byam filled in, which made for a fun and informative Saturday afternoon. The DJ, our own Jalil Shabazz, provided us with fabulous music during the banquet and in addition to a CD to bring back those memories from back in the day. Our keynote speaker, Ms.Janice Dixon, reminded us to take time to “listen” to our youth when they speak. The Evangelist from our vesper service, Marcia Barrett, touched and inspired us. Our National President, Faye Faison, challenged us to take action in order to continue fulfilling part of the organizations’ mission: Establishing and administering a scholarship fund through the Endowment Initiative.
