$2000 Academic Scholarship Recipient
Tamara Shanté Sampson, a rising sophomore at UNC-G, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, North Carolina, Greensboro, North Carolina. She was
a 2013 graduate of Clinton High School. She has completed her first year of college working towards her degree in Business.
Tamara continues to apply herself at the university. She is on the Dean’s List with a GPA of 3.0,, not much lower than her 3.43 in high school .It was that tenacity, dedication and educational achievement that earned her this scholarship. She held part time jobs at Clinton High as a student in 2012-2013 and in the Blazing Stars After School Academy. Among her listed high school honors were: CTE Honor Society Inductee, Spanish Honor Society Inductee and National High School Scholar Nominee. She was a member of the Ebony Club, DECA Club, HOSA, Cross Country and Track and Field. At her church, Tamara was a very dependable contributing member of the Youth Group for four years, a camp counselor her junior and senior year and a member of the Usher Board.
She is a member of Coraddi Magazine, Threads, UNCG Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies Student Organization and The Threads Blogging Club.
She described herself as having a passion for learning and realized that going to college would fuel that love. She attributes this yearning to her curiosity and the desire to know because it is there to acquire. She is well on her way to becoming the role model for the young she so much longs to be. This unstable economy demands balance – a college education to assist in opening doors that may be
otherwise be locked forever.
She is quiet, but works hard in all of her classes to make excellent grades and simply excel. She is willing to help anyone when needed, but is careful to avoid situations where her integrity may be questioned. Her pleasant attitude is an asset which will aid her in the academic setting. Tamara is self-motivated and will not tire or be distracted until she has achieved every goal she has set for herself. University of North Carolina at Greensboro is one more stop on Tamara’s journey.
