$2000 Academic Scholarship Recipient

Jamiroquia is a resident of Turkey, North Carolina and a 2016 graduate of Hobbton High School in Newton Grove, North Carolina. He plans to spend his first two years at Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, North Carolina before continuing to pursue a degree in Sports Management.

At Hobbton High School, Jamiroquia was on the JV Football Team, JV Basketball Team,
Varsity Football Team and Varsity Track and Field Team. His attendance was notable and his
citizenship was impeccable. He maintained higher than a 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.5 and
scored higher than necessary on the SAT and ACT exams.

Jamiroquia’s counselor wrote.” He has the discipline and maturity to be successful in an academic setting of higher learning. He is a very respectful young man who has never been a discipline problem at Hobbton High School. He comes from a very supportive family with much encouragement to do his very best.

His Math teacher shares comments on Jamiroquia’s character and academic promise. He writes, Jamiroquia has been a student athlete of mine all four high school years. He was instrumental in helping start the Track and Field Program at Hobbton High School from inception to implementation. Attitudes like his have afforded Hobbton the opportunity to prosper even without the proper facilities. He is dependable, trustworthy and a model Student-Athlete. Jamiroquia is assertive, yet calm. His identity continues to emerge as he embraces his future and the challenge of college.
