$2000 Academic Scholarship Recipient
Christopher graduated from Midway High School in Newton Grove, North Carolina. He will enroll at North Carolina State University in the fall and major in Architectural Design.
Academic Scholarship recipient Christopher has amassed a distinguished high school record. He ranked eight of 193 graduates. He was member of six honor groups: National Honor Society, North Carolina Academic Scholar, Career and Technical Education Honor Society and Sampson County Schools Arts Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, CTE Honor Society. Christopher was also one of 14 students in the Class of 2019 at Midway High and one of 24 in the entire Sampson County School District in 2019 to simultaneously earn both an Associate’s Degree and a high school diploma. He earned and will transfer 63 credits to North Carolina State University this fall.
Christopher received the following honors: Top Ten Freshman Class, Top Ten Sophomore Class, Top Ten Junior Class, Marshall (2028) Beta Club (10th, 11th, 12th grades), North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Online, Sampson All County Art Show Winner, Governor’s School Nominee, Eagle Scout Rank (January 2019), AP Honors Student.
Additionally, Christopher was accepted into the College of Design at NC State ( Feb, 2019), recognized as Superintendent’s Star Artist (April 2019), received Associate Degree from Sampson Community College (May 2019), Fellowship of Christian Athletes , Treasurer/Secretary, Varsity Soccer Team Captain (12th grade) Spring Track Team Captain (12th grade), JV Soccer Team ( 9th grade), Winter Track Team (9th -12th grades), Spring Track Team (9th – 12th grades), Varsity Soccer Team ( 10th – 12th grades),mentoring opportunities and church involvement.
When asked “Why pursue a college education; is it worth it?’ Christopher wrote: “Obtaining a college degree will enable me to make an impact on the lives of people all around the world by working with an architectural firm that allows creativity and the love of art to be important elements for the construction of buildings. (Paraphrased) “I have the desire to help develop innovative ways to design safe, reliable buildings with renewable energy and to find solutions to harness and effectively use the sun’s energy to fuel mankind’s consumption.”
