To the question, A College Education, Is it Worth the Cost? Quiera replied that although the cost has outrageously skyrocketed, pursuing a college degree it totally worth it. As technology and humans continue to advance, fewer jobs will be available for those who dropped out of school or have only a high school diploma. She cites a personal example of a high school graduate who struggles to support family, yet receives motivation to get a college degree to become financially stable, thereby avoiding the same consequence. While pursuing a college education, one learns interpersonal skills, how to judge people from all walks of life, when to study and how to make adjustments when encountered by challenges. The college educational experience is costly, yet it shapes the individual as well. One may discover her passion to enter a totally new field of study or network for personal and career advantages-meet lifelong friends or potential business partners. Although there are college graduates who have not landed that dream job, but have student debt, research shows that the degree increases the chances of employment, career choices and a new sense of self. Sometimes the college graduate must become the employer rather than the employee – change your circumstances and those of others just like you. Create your own job.
The attendance and citizenship records of Quiera are both marked “excellent.” Her high school counselor writes, “She is a very intelligent individual with much to offer society. She is poised and carries herself with respect and dignity. She is kind and likable and is not easily distracted. She will do great things because of her ability to stand out and do what’s best for her.”
