Mrs. Hazel Colwell was honored and featured in the Sampson Weekly for a Lifetime of Service. During Black History Month, Mrs. Colwell was presented the 2016 MLK Image Award during the annual Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce, Multicultural Business Committee’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Business Reception. The MLK Image Award is given to someone whose life embodies a spirit of service. How well do we as members of Sampson High School Alumni Association know that Mrs. Hazel Colwell more than fits the bill?

During the acceptance of the award, Mrs. Colwell spoke fondly of her parents. She stated her parents raised her to appreciate the rewards of hard work; and to understand the value of doing for others. Again, we who know her, know that those values has truly resonated with her.
