$500 Chair and Her Friends Scholarship In Education (Private Donation)

Shaunice Sha-von Bennett received the Chair and Her Friends Scholarship In Education award. This scholarship was established August 14, 2010 when M. Odell Bennett Sutton, Chair of Scholarship Committee, donated money received for her birthday to fund this effort. Shaunice is the inaugural recipient of the scholarship. She is from the Class of 2013 of Hardaway High School in Columbus, Georgia and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Odell Bennett of the same city. Shaunice is a team player scoring both on the court and in the classroom. She excelled academically with a GPA of 3.107 on a 4.0 scale. During high school, she was a JROTC Team Leader, a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Girls’ Basketball Team, Captain of Girls’ Basketball Team her junior and senior years, MVP both years, All Bi-City, Regional MVP and Elite 8 in Georgia High School Coaches Association. Shaunice is enrolled at Thomas University on an athletic scholarship majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sports Management. She plans to use her Sports Management degree to become a high school teacher and girls’ basketball coach.
