A proud 1980 graduate of Clinton High School and distinguished SHSAA Scholarship recipient (#31) and Life Member (#222), I was born in December 1961 in Clinton, North Carolina, I am the daughter of Ms. Deloris Davis Morrissey and married to U.S. Navy Retired Command Master Chief Ranow McCoy. Together, we have one son, Marcus, and are blessed with a granddaughter, Sydney. We reside in Silver Spring, Maryland, where my husband and I have been active members of the Washington Metropolitan Alumni Association Chapter since 2001.
I retired in 2018 following a distinguished 34-year career with the Department of Defense, where I served in the Comptroller financial budget arena. As a Financial Branch Head and Budget Management Supervisor, I oversaw employees with an annual budget exceeding $3 billion. Altogether, I dedicated 42 years to state and federal public service before retiring at the age of 57.
Retirement has provided opportunities to pursue a variety of interests, including designing and building projects, managing financial accounts through advanced Excel applications, traveling with my husband, shopping, mentoring, and spending quality time with our son and granddaughter. We also remain devoted to supporting my mother’s healthcare needs, making frequent trips to and from North Carolina to assist in her care.
After earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration Management, I realized my lifelong goal of obtaining a doctorate remained unfulfilled. Driven by a passion for service, mentorship, and education, I shifted my focus toward supporting curriculum and instruction—working to empower educators and enhance student success through meaningful, corrective strategies.
As SHSAA National President, I am honored to collaborate with a dedicated Executive Board, many of whom are fellow scholarship recipients. I remain committed to fostering a supportive and accessible leadership environment, ensuring that all committee chairs and members feel empowered and supported in advancing the organization’s mission.
My professional and civic affiliations include Life Member and Delta Dear of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Wives Club of Montgomery County; Omega Nu Lambda International Honor Society; Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education; Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society; and Vice President of the Washington Metropolitan Alumni Chapter.
It is both a privilege and an honor to serve the Sampson High School Alumni Association, Inc. I remain dedicated to preserving its legacy, strengthening its impact, and advancing its mission for future generations.
Respectfully,
Angela Davis-McCoy
